Pharmacological (biological) properties and effects
Terramycin (Oxytetracycline) as part of the drug has a broad spectrum of antibacterial action, active against Gram-positive and Gram-negative microorganisms, including Escherichia, Salmonella, Pasteurella, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus.
Terramycin (Oxytetracycline) in a bacterial cell binds to 30 S subunit of ribosomes, which leads to disruption of protein synthesis and death of the microorganism. Oxytetracycline acts bacteriostatically.
Terramycin (Oxytetracycline) is well absorbed from the injection site and penetrates into all organs and tissues of the body. The maximum concentration of the antibiotic in the blood is reached 3-6 hours after administration of Terramycin (Oxytetracycline) and remains at therapeutic levels for 72 hours.
Terramycin (Oxytetracycline) is excreted from the body mainly with bile and in small amounts with urine.
Contraindications to the use of Terramycin (Oxytetracycline)
- Allergic reactions to tetracycline antibiotics;
- concomitant administration with corticosteroids and estrogens;
- concomitantly with antibiotics of penicillin and cephalosporin series (due to reduction of antibacterial effect of oxytetracycline);
- dogs, cats, horses.
There are no side effects and complications associated with the use of Oxytetracycline 200 in the recommended doses
Indications for use of Terramycin (Oxytetracycline)
for treatment of bronchopneumonia, colibacillosis, salmonellosis and other diseases of pigs, cattle, sheep and goats caused by microorganisms sensitive to oxytetracycline.
