Pharmacology of Elimite
Pharmacological action - anti-pediculosis, insecticidal, acaricidal.
The action is due to a violation of the ionic permeability of sodium channels and inhibition of the polarization (repolarization) of the membrane of nerve cells of lice, fleas, ticks (including scabies) and other ectoparasites of the arthropod family, which leads to a paralyzing effect.
Absorption after cutaneous application is no more than 2%. Part of the substance that has entered the systemic circulation is rapidly hydrolyzed to inactive metabolites, which are excreted mainly in the urine. With a single treatment of surfaces affected by pediculosis, the anti-pediculosis effect lasts from 2-3 to 6 weeks (depending on the dosage form used). Effective as an anti-scab agent.
Application of the substance Permethrin
Pediculosis of the scalp, pubic pediculosis (including filthiness), scabies.
Method of administration and doses
Outwardly. In most cases, a single application of the cream is sufficient to kill lice and provides 97–99% protection against infestation within 2 weeks. In some cases, the effect of the drug persists for 6 weeks. If the epidemiological situation is unfavorable for head lice, Elimite cream can be applied once a week for 8 weeks.
Elimite cream can be used in children from 6 months of age, in adults and in the elderly. For children under the age of 6 months, only a doctor can prescribe a cream.
Instructions for use Elimite
1. Wash your hair with a regular shampoo, rinse thoroughly with water and dry with a towel.
2. Shake the bottle of Elimite Cream vigorously and apply enough cream to the scalp to wet the hair and scalp, paying particular attention to the occipital area and behind the ears. At the same time, hair and skin should look “thickly covered with cream”. Most people will need to use almost the entire contents of the vial for processing. One bottle is enough for one person's application on medium length and medium thickness hair. If necessary, you can use a larger amount of cream, but not more than 2 bottles for one course of treatment.
3. Do not rinse off the cream for 10 minutes, then rinse hair thoroughly with water and dry in the usual way.
4. Damp hair can be brushed with a fine comb to remove dead nits.
It is necessary to wash your hair with shampoo, rinse it with water, dry it. After that, apply a sufficient amount to the hair and scalp, leave for 10 minutes, then rinse with water. The hair is combed with a thick comb to remove nits. If live lice are found 7 days after application, the procedure is repeated.
Precautions for the substance Permethrin
It is necessary to avoid contact with the mucous membranes of the eyes, nose, oral cavity, external genital organs (if this happens, the mucous membranes are rinsed abundantly with running water). Medical personnel are advised to wear rubber gloves. After the procedure, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water. Procedures should be carried out in a well-ventilated area. If you are taking other drugs at the same time or if you have concomitant diseases of the scalp, you must consult a doctor before starting treatment. If itching continues for more than 4 weeks after treatment of scabies, a doctor's consultation is mandatory. The occurrence of hypersensitivity reactions requires discontinuation of treatment.
To destroy body lice, the contents of the bottle (24 ml) are diluted in 96 ml of water, underwear and bed linen are soaked in the resulting emulsion for 40 minutes.
Pregnancy and lactation, fertility
The safety of treatment during pregnancy has not been established. During the period of breastfeeding, it is recommended to refrain from using the drug.
